Mission Possible is a week long servant event that my church, Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, hosts every year (taking one year off in between every 3 years). Churches from all over the country come to change the lives of people who can't afford to pay for landscaping and basic home renovations - or are unable to do the work themselves. Some of the tasks that appear almost every year are: landscaping (planting flower beds, mowing the lawn, laying down mulch, etc.), roofing work, painting (interior and exterior), and building wheelchair ramps.

I've been involved every year possible since I was 16 - my whole family really pitches in every year! It's an exhausting week, but SO WORTH IT! My dad is actually the work site coordinator, so the past two years I've gotten the unique experience of working a little bit on every site! I love being able to work with all of the teams and seeing how every site develops over the week!

In addition to helping others in the community, our church also hosts daily Bible studies and fun activities, like swimming and game nights.

As of Summer 2012, there have been 9 Mission Possible servant events. It's incredible to witness so many teenagers give up a week of their summer to come to a small Indiana town and help people they've never met. We all work so hard - endlessly until we help as many people as we can. In the summer of 2012, we helped on 17 different work sites, including our "mother" church that we were formed from. The pastor's wife is now able to continue going to church because we built her a wheelchair ramp!

To God be the Glory!

This is the wheelchair ramp we built for our "mother" church - we took this project on about halfway through the week because the work site coordinator (who happens to be my dad) and the Mission Possible coordinator decided we had to do it. God was calling our name, asking for our help and we did it! A 62-foot wheelchair ramp built in about 3 days!

Our awesome church band and pastors leading morning Bible study!

This is actually my little sister, a youth from Ohio, and another lady from our church working on the front of a house this past summer! At this site, there was a lot of roofing work that we got done on the garage, we built a new porch in the backyard, landscaping maintenance painted a lot (as you see here), and were even able to get the homeowner a new porch swing for his backyard!

This awesome board is part of the wheelchair ramp that we built for our "mother church"! Everyone that helped work on it signed this board, and we nailed it underneath the ramp as we built it. The best part was being able to honor God and spread His love while working with my mom and dad! My whole family gets involved every year, but this is the first year I got to work with both parents at the same time and it was just awesome!
